Trump Affirms U.S. Embassy Move To Jerusalem

November 3rd 2016

Jerusalem-Temple and Wall

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has signed onto a pro-Israel letter, presented to him by a Christian Zionist group, calling for, among other things, the U.S. Embassy to be moved to Jerusalem.

The letter was initiated by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, a Christian Zionist organization, and its network, the American Christian Leaders for Israel (ACLI), which represents 60 million evangelical Christians.

In the letter, the ACLI asked both presidential candidates to affirm the following: relocate the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, renew and strengthen America’s Memorandum of Understanding with Israel, combat efforts to boycott, divest or sanction Israel, monitor and impose any new sanctions on Iran and oppose any outside solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“The vast majority of the American people support Israel, and it is our responsibility to make sure that the next president of the United States reflects the will of people and stands in friendship with the nation and people of Israel,” the letter stated.

Susan Michael, the ICEJ’s U.S. director, said “the policies Mr. Trump has agreed to will enhance Israel’s standing in the world and directly benefit the United States in security, innovation, technology, and intelligence.”

The ACLI letter was signed by evangelical leaders representing diverse groups and denominations, including Hispanic and African American Christians; among them Jerry Johnson, CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters; Roberta Combs, president of the Christian Coalition; Rev. Sam Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference; Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women for America; Rev. Harry Jackson, presiding bishop of the International Communion of Evangelical Churches; Jane Hansen Hoyt, president of AGLOW International; James Dobson, president of Family Talk Radio; Janet Parshall, a nationally-syndicated talk show host, and Jim Showers, executive director of The Friends of Israel.
