CUFI Action Fund to Host Fly-In This Week

January 10th 2017

USA/Israel

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Action Fund is hosting a fly-in with more than 260 Christian leaders from across the country. During their visit, the leaders, representing 49 states, will lobby their Senators in support of pro-Israel legislation and President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of David Friedman to be US Ambassador to Israel. Two allied organizations, the Hispanic Israel Leadership Coalition and the Philos Project have joined this effort and are also sending representatives.

Tuesday evening, attendees will gather at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill to hear from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee, David Brog, CUFI’s founding executive director and a member of the group’s Board of Directors, and Gary Bauer, Washington Director of the CUFI Action Fund.

The following day, in addition to asking senators to confirm Friedman, CUFI leaders will lobby in support of S. Res. 6, which calls for the repeal of UN Security Council Resolution 2334, and S. 11, which requires the relocation of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“There are millions of Christian Zionists across the country who are incensed at the Obama administration’s treatment of Israel, and we will make our voice heard both in the halls of Congress and at the ballot box. The days of appeasing Israel’s enemies and undermining the US-Israel alliance are over,” Hagee said.

“We are going to Capitol Hill to deliver a very specific message to both sides of the aisle: Use US leverage to end Israel bashing at the UN, support moving the American embassy to Jerusalem, and confirm David Friedman, President-elect Donald Trump's excellent choice to be US Ambassador to Israel. The American people stand with Jewish state, and we expect our leaders in Washington to reflect that position in every relevant vote they take,” Bauer noted. "Our leaders across the county have been appalled by the Obama Administration's parting shots at Israel. They've been contacting us nonstop, asking that we speak out as effectively as possible. We decided that this was one of those times when we needed to give these leaders an opportunity to come to DC and personally ask their senators to do everything in their power to counteract these anti-Israel moves," Brog added.
