Lie by Omission at the NYT

January 10th 2018

New York Times Bldg

It’s a lie by omission. The New York Times published a compelling article on the humanitarian disaster in Venezuela. It focused on mass starvation – particularly among infants and children — in spite of the nation sitting on the world’s largest known oil reserves.  Food and medicine are nearly unobtainable.  Scavenging in trash dumps for anything to eat is commonplace.

This article repudiated glowing praise the paper lavished on the socialist dictatorship just five years ago.  That praise was founded on the same key point the Times never mentioned in its recent 48-hundred word article.  The humanitarian disaster is the direct result of Venezuela’s socialist policies.  In 2012, according to the New York Times, Venezuela’s socialist policies created a paradise.  Today, those socialist polices got no mention.

This is reminiscent of the New York Times in the 1930s. The paper published blatantly false reports that covered-up the genocide of as many as five million Ukrainians by the Soviet Union. Back then the New York Times ruled the media landscape. It was the final word in news. Americans were lied to. The New York Times helped cover-up the evil of socialism. Nearly 60 years passed before the paper acknowledged the false reports.
