Justice Department stonewalls evidence of Loretta Lynch deal with Clinton

July 8th 2018

Hilary Clinton

The Department of Justice refuses to release material that alleges that while serving as Attorney General during the Obama administration, Loretta Lynch conspired with Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign to prejudice the FBI investigation into Clinton’s email practices at the Department of State. The material is classified, thus requiring Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz to keep it out of his recent report on the FBI’s handling of its probe into Clinton’s use of a private email server for classified information during her tenure as America’s top diplomat.

A suggestion that Lynch gave assurances to the Clinton campaign about the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton was included in Horowitz’s final draft of his 500-page+ report, but was eventually blanked out. The report criticized Lynch for the "ambiguous" and incomplete recusal from the Clinton email "matter" despite her secret 30-minute "tarmac" meeting with former President Bill Clinton at the Phoenix airport one week before the FBI exonerated Hillary Clinton.

In a report by Paul Sperry of Real Clear Investigations, Horowitz withheld the information from Congress. Even members of Congress holding top secret security clearance have been barred from seeing intercepts from supposed Russian sources that implicate Lynch and the Clinton campaign, on the basis of information from the erstwhile head of the Democratic National Committee, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida. For their part, Clinton, Lynch, and Wasserman Schultz all deny the allegations.Horowitz told Congress last week in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, “The information was classified at such a high level by the intelligence community that it limited even the members [of Congress] who can see it, as well as the staffs.”

The material is classified "TS/SCI," which stands for Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information, according to Real Clear Investigations. Additionally, Horowitz told senators that he asked Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray to cooperate with the Central Intelligence Agency and the Director of National Intelligence to rewrite the material so that members of Congress may read it. If "sources and methods" can be protected, Horowitz trusts that members of Congress can read the material in the secure reading room in the basement of the Capitol Building. “We very much want the committee to see this information,” Horowitz said.Excerpt from the report by Sperry:

“True or false, the material is consequential because it appears to have influenced former FBI Director James B. Comey’s decision to break with bureau protocols because he didn’t trust Lynch. In his recent book, Comey said he took the reins in the Clinton email probe, announcing Clinton should not be indicted, because of a “development still unknown to the American public” that “cast serious doubt” on Lynch’s credibility – clearly the intercepted material.

“If the material documents an authentic exchange between Lynch and a Clinton aide, it would appear to be strong evidence that the Obama administration put partisan political considerations ahead of its duty to enforce the law.”

The secret document may prove that Lynch assured the Clinton organization that the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton would not prosper. Media reports and a letter sent to Lynch by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley indicate that the FBI received a number of hacked documents in March 2016 from the American intelligence community that accessed stolen emails stored on Russian computer networks. Reportedly, one of those documents revealed that then-DNC Chairwoman Wasserman Schultz emailed a person working for billionaire philanthropist and Democratic fundraiser George Soros. The document allegedly promised the Clinton campaign’s political director, Amanda Renteria, that FBI investigators and DOJ prosecutors would not vigorously examine Hillary Clinton’s email practices, which then-FBI Director James Comey would eventually deem “extremely careless.” Renteria is currently campaigning as a Democrat for the governorship of California. She has dismissed that intelligence about her is false and designed by Russians to sow discord during the election.

The FBI never did interview anyone named in the intercept until August 2016 and after FBI Director Comey had declared case closed in the Clinton email investigation. However, the FBI informally asked Lynch about the allegations and Comey was reportedly told by Lynch to leave her office when he asked her about them. According to Comey, he doubted Lynch’s independence back in September 2015 when she asked him to minimize the probe into Hillary Clinton by referring to it as “a matter” instead of an “investigation.” Less than a week after FBI agents interviewed Clinton in July 2016, Lynch held a private meeting with former President Bill Clinton on her government plane while it was parked at the Phoenix airport. According to text messages between disgraced FBI Agent Peter Strzok and FBI attorney Lisa Page, they understood that Lynch had determined that “no charges will be brought” against Clinton.

While Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has announced his intention to subpoena Lynch, he must be seconded by the top Democrat on the committee, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (CA). After saying that she believes former FBI director Comey acted in good faith, she said on Monday that she believes that he should not have to bear questioning.

Interesting connections

The infamous “dossier” that alleged that donald Trump had had a sexual escape with prostitutes in a Moscow hotel before his presidential candidacy was drafted by former British spy Christopher Steele for the Fusion GPS opposition research and commissioned by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. The dossier was used by the Obama administration to petition the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court for a warrant to allow the National Security Agency to identify Americans in communications that the spy agency surveilled within the Trump campaign, ostensibly to probe alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Steele and former FBI investigator and Feinstein staffer Daniel J. Jones are working on a $50 million investigation funded by controversial philanthropist George Soros and other donors to continue the investigation into Trump. Renteria also once worked for Feinstein. And it was Feinstein who leaked congressional testimony that Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson provided in January.

It was in the April 2018 report by the House Intelligence Committee on Russian interference in the 2016 election that revealed in footnote that Soros and a group of as many as 10 donors from California and New York are funding the private investigation into Trump. Leaked messages between Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) and lobbyist Adam Waldman suggested that Jones was "intimately involved with ongoing efforts to retroactively validate a series of salacious and unverified memos published by Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence agent, and Fusion GPS." Jones operates the Penn Quarter Group, which calls itself a "research and investigative advisory" firm. Jones began tweeting in 2017 about supposed illicit ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Jones’ name was also mentioned in a list of individuals in a January 25 Congressional letter from Senators Grassley and Graham to former Obama administration officials and prominent Democrats who may have been involved with Fusion GPS. Also among the 40 individuals names the senators requested were: former AG Loretta Lynch and ex-CIA director John Brennan. The letter also requested communications relating to former State Department official Victoria Nuland, former FBI official Andrew McCabe, and FBI agents Bruce Ohr and Peter Strzok. Both McCabe and Strzok have since been fired.
