Effort to Delegitimize Israel at UWindsor in Canada Exposes as Illegitimate

In early March, The University of Windsor Students’ Alliance seemed to have become the first student union in Canada to approve a boycott, divestment and sanction strategy against Israel following an undergraduate referendum that was held on the matter.

The BDS movement in some areas seems to have been gaining popularity of late, as efforts of the United States to push a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians rages on.  Yet, BDS, which U.S. Secretary of State referred to in a February 1st speech when he said, "People are talking about boycott. That will intensify in the case of failure," has been exposed by NGO Monitor as an effort to delegitimize Israel rather than one to establish a lasting peace.

So, when this controversial referendum at the University of Windsor was held and appeared to have passed, it came as a shock to some.  It appears, however, that the effort to delegitimize Israel was itself not legitimate, according to an investigation by the school’s lawyer Raj Anand.

In an email sent out to students, UWindsor president Dr. Alan Wildeman released the findings of the subsequent investigation that exposed the fraud that took place at the University of Windsor Student Alliance.  The university declared that the referendum failed to follow the bylaws and constitution of the UWSA and is therefore not valid.

This video below demonstrates the meticulously sneaky efforts taken by certain student leaders to pave the way for easy passage of this anti-Israel measure in the time leading up to the final vote.
