7:37 PM ET August 5, 2014. Egyptian delegates have suggested to Israeli and Palestinian envoys in Cairo for indirect negotiations to extend the current 72-hour cease-fire to 120 hours. - Jerusalem Post.

7:30 PM ET August 5, 2014. SecState Kerry, in a BBC interview, urged Israel and the Palestinians to utilize the temporary cease-fire in Gaza and ensuing indirect diplomatic negotiations in Egypt to reach talks regarding a "bigger, broader approach to a two-state solution." -- Jerusalem Post.

7:25 PM ET August 5, 2014. "Disarming Palestinian resistance will not be negotiated during indirect [cease-fire] talks in Cairo," Islamic Jihad official said following the group's claim of  'victory': "Despite the pain, [the] resistance has made great achievement," deputy head Ziad al Nakhaleh says. -Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh says in a speech, "Military victory will lead to lifting of siege on Gaza Strip." - Jerusalem Post. 

7:20 PM ET August 5, 2014. IDF says it attacked 4,762 targets in Gaza during war, of which 1,678 were rocket launchers and storage facilities; 997 targets were command and control centers, 191 were rocket production facilities, while 32 attack tunnels were uncovered and demolished. - Jerusalem Post.

2:00 PM ET August 5, 2014. Israel is sending a delegation to Egypt to engage in talks to extend the cease-fire.1:46 PM ET August 5, 2014. Egypt to Hamas: Palestinian demands for an airport and seaport in Gaza, and the opening of Rafah border crossing, are not on the table in the negotiations for a permanent agreement taking place in Cairo.

The head of UNRWA said today it needs $187 million to help 250,000 displaced people in Gaza.

National Security Adviser Susan Rice said today that it is important to use the 72-hour-ceasefire to begin solving the crisis in Gaza. "It is very important that both sides remain committed to it and use this opportunity to begin the negotiations that we had been working so energetically through Secretary of State Kerry and President Obama to get off the ground so that the underlines causes of the conflict in Gaza can be addressed at the negotiation table." -- i24News

9:15 AM ET August 5, 2014. The 72-hour cease fire has been in effect for about eight hours now and no rockets have been fired, and Israel's troops have been taking up positions outside of Gaza.

A terrorist stabbed a security guard at the entrance to the city of of Maaleh Adumim, east of Jerusalem, Tuesday morning. The guard suffered severe wounds. He fired at the terrorist but failed to hit him, and the the attacker ran away toward the village of Azariyeh.
