8:30 AM ET August 6,2014. The Israeli army released  30,000 reservists called up during Operation Protective Edge. 55,000 reservists are left in the areas bordering with Gaza.

Israel's Foreign Ministry has reportedly recommended that Israel not to cooperate with a UN Human Rights Council investigation into Israel’s conduct in the Gaza Strip. “The committee decided on by the Council will be formed and will write a report, but if a committee is formed relying on the automatic anti-Israel majority, then we need to ask if Israel needs to cooperate,” a ministry source told Ynet. “We didn’t cooperate with Goldstone and it disappeared from the world.”

Life is gradually returning to normal for residents of Israel's south. A day after the ceasefire went into effect, reports are emerging of stores and outside malls re-opening, summer camps beginning to operate and people once more frequenting the beach and other local tourist attractions.

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and UN Middle East peace process coordinator Robert Serry arrived in Cairo for cease-fire talks.

President Peter Maurer of the International Committee of the Red Cross, after a stop in Gaza, was quoted by Israeli media "I saw the results of the war that took place here over the last few weeks -- there is much destruction, many victims, but also several positive signs following the cease-fire that went into effect yesterday... Life is restarting now and we hope to take part in the rehabilitation process." - i24News

7:08 AM ET August 6, 2014. At approximately 2PM Jerusalem time (7AM ET) a rocket alert went off in southern Israel indicating a possible breach in the ceasefire from Gaza. A few minutes later it was reported as a false alarm.
